The Homage Episode 7 — The Force Awakens

This is it: the last saber of 2022. Presenting the Heirloom Class Exhibit, the third instalment in The Homage – the Episode 7 The Force Awakens lightsaber.

As with all 9 pieces in The Homage set, this piece is built by @wade_sabers out of a Flagship hilt from @krsabers, fitted with the modified Flagship Crystal Chamber Extension to accommodate a spinning exposed crystal chamber. Installed with Proffie for Neopixel light and sound, the saber is also installed with more than a dozen special quotes and sounds from the movie.

This Exhibit is etched by @ng_sabers with iconic characters and scenes from Episode 7, using shrouds from La Forge De Dagobah. One shroud is etched with Kylo Ren while the opposing shroud is etched with Rey. On the emitter is the familiar bloody scrawl on FN-2187’s helmet and, across the grip, a gorgeous seamless etch of stormtroopers disembarking from their transport.

Perhaps the most exciting part of this saber is the Easter egg brass chassis sleeve, etched with iconic characters from Episode 7, including Princess Leia, Han Solo and the droids, from BB-8 to C-3PO and R2-D2. What makes this piece even more special is that the lights on each droid have been milled through and aligned with individually controlled LEDs on the chassis, allowing each droid’s lights to shine through the sleeve. A perfect blend of art and technology!
