Exhibit No. 040
Heirloom ClassMichael Murphy Vintage ESB Graflex
This May 4th, The Saber Museum is proud to present the first Heirloom Class Exhibit in our collection. Heirloom Class Exhibits showcase lightsabers that make a lasting impact on the community. Built specially for The Saber Museum by Michael Murphy, aka Master Yoda of FX-Sabers, this Exhibit features the vintage ESB Graflex with crystal core chassis. It is the latest incarnation of the lightsaber that arguably started it all, when Michael built his first crystal chamber Graflex in 2005.
The iconic crystal chamber set within a vintage Graflex shell is still the closest thing in spirit to an actual working lightsaber that you could wield. By demonstrating what was possible, Yoda changed the game for all saber smiths who followed and opened the eyes of the community to a new era of innovation and creativity. That single lightsaber inspired and heralded the golden era of lightsabers that continues to this day. You might say the community would not be what it is today if not for Yoda’s pioneering design and work in building that crystal chamber Graflex.
This Heirloom Class Exhibit features Yoda’s signature stainless steel crystal core chassis. The crystal core features the trademark drilled crystals and LED-lit rings, as well as the latest CFX card, a replica kobold and second red button from TGS, a Slothfurnace ESB Otis clamp card and a custom blade by Spacewindu of Civilized Sabers.
The Saber Museum is proud to welcome the Michael Murphy ESB Vintage Graflex on Star Wars Day 2022.
