Perhaps at the pinnacle of custom saber building are the saber smiths who create sabers end to end: everything from designing the hilt and machining and weathering the parts to designing the internal chassis and installing the electronics. The skills needed for every part of this complex work call upon every technical tool in the saber smith’s arsenal, from hardware to software. Without a doubt, only a handful of smiths in the world are capable of such feats.

This is the fourth instalment in our series on one such saber smith: Gary Morris of @the_outer_rim_outpost. This fourth Exhibit features a unique saber named The Chepota (Chickasaw for Child), built by Gary in 2022 to celebrate his new child. The double-kinked hilt uses an @ignitionsabers Mercury and other custom elements, including a custom-machined metal chassis and crystal chamber. It is powered by an 18650 battery, with a 2.1mm recharge port and CFX for light and sound.
