Saber Smith Spotlight The Pilgrim

Some slides in the original post were videos; still frames are shown here.

Perhaps at the pinnacle of custom saber building are the saber smiths who create sabers end to end: everything from designing the hilt and machining and weathering the parts to designing the internal chassis and installing the electronics. The skills needed for every part of this complex work call upon every technical tool in the saber smith’s arsenal, from hardware to software. Without a doubt, only a handful of smiths in the world are capable of such feats.

This week, we take a look at one such saber smith: Gary Morris of The Outer Rim Outpost. The second Exhibit in this series is a unique saber named The Pilgrim, inspired by the idea of a Grey Jedi who prefers to act alone, guided by the Force. It features a hilt custom-machined from scratch in brass and aluminium, a 2.1mm recharge port, a custom-machined crystal chamber and greeblies, and is installed with CFX for light and sound.
