The art and science of lightsabers stretch far beyond sabers from Star Wars canon. Original designs are often where the creativity of saber smiths can truly shine, even extending to sabers inspired by mythologies from other universes. One of the foremost companies creating high-quality original designs is Vader’s Vault, owned by saber pioneers Alan and Deanna Johnson. Here we share two sabers from their original Wrath design.
This Exhibit features the Wrath by @officialvadersvault, further customised and installed by @yeahkess_yeah from Lightsaber Thailand. Reimagined as the lightsaber of the Morgul Lord, otherwise known as the Witch-King of Angmar, from The Lord of the Rings, the saber is powder-coated gold and wrapped in distressed leather. The internals feature a removable full metal chassis in brass and aluminium, with a rotating crystal chamber plated in gold. The gleaming ornate hilt, both inside and outside, can only belong to the Witch-King.
